In a clip from GoldGlove’s recent Gears of War 4 Twitch stream, players can see that he clearly had the better of his opponent, and the person he was shooting should have at least gone down, if not exploded into bits, like Gears of War characters tend to do. However, due to lag, what happens is GoldGlove is the one that ends up being killed, causing him to stand up, and throw what appears to be an Elite controller on his desk in a rather dramatic example of rage-quitting.
Lag can be frustrating, but even so, it seems silly to break such expensive equipment after losing in a game. Now GoldGlove will have to spend some extra cash to buy a new controller, assuming the one he threw in rage can’t be salvaged.

Even though GoldGlove’s reaction to the lag in Gears of War 4 was a bit over-the-top, it’s still a problem that needs to be addressed. One of the main selling points of Gears of War 4 is its multiplayer functionality, and if it doesn’t work properly, then many gamers are going to have a negative first impression of the game.
To its credit, The Coalition has already released an update for Gears of War 4 dealing with the game’s multiplayer, though it doesn’t necessarily address the ongoing server stability issues. In fact, the first major update for Gears of War 4 instead deals with the multiplayer’s divisive microtransactions, making it easier for players to earn in-game credits and lowering the price of its card packs. While this update will likely be appreciated by the Gears of War 4 community, it’s clear by GoldGlove’s video that The Coalition has more pressing matters to deal with in regards to the multiplayer.
One would imagine that Gears of War 4’s early access release would have helped The Coalition better prepare the servers for launch day, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Here’s hoping that the issues with Gears of War 4’s online multiplayer are resolved as soon as possible, so that more controllers aren’t destroyed by rage quitters like GoldGlove.
Gears of War 4 is available now for PC and Xbox One.
