It is not necessary to own the special characters in order to receive the celebratory mail. However, the mail is only sent on the day of the birthday, meaning that players should make sure to log into Genshin Impact if they want to receive these mails. Birthday Mail will be automatically transferred to the Gift Mail Box after the player has collected the rewards, allowing them to re-read these letters without overcrowding the mailbox. Mails within this special box will not expire over time.
Traveler’s Birthday
Traveler’s birthday is the only birthday that players can select on their own. On this special date, at 00.00 server time, players will receive a special gift via in-game mail with a uniquely designed cake (Cake for Traveler) and a letter each year, which updates annually on September 28th at 00:00 (server time). There are currently 3 different cake designs, reflecting the styles of the Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma regions.

Cake for Traveler can be used to obtain two Fragile Resin and a copy of the cake that can be kept as a keepsake. Players should note that the Traveler’s birthday can only be edited once; thus, it will not be possible to change it later. Those who don’t have time to log into Genshin Impact on their birthday need not worry about missing out on the reward since it will come through in-game mail. Players have up to one year from their birthday to open the email and claim the gift inside.
1 January
With the start of a new year, January is celebrated around the world and in the world of Teyvat, as it is also the time of the Lantern Rite. As considered to be the month of new beginnings it only makes sense that the Wanderer welcomes the new year with an early birthday on January 3rd. Until now, January has been a relatively quiet month for birthday celebrations, with only three characters in Genshin Impact - Thoma, Diona, and Rosaria - having birthdays in the month.
Wanderer - January 3 (Capricorn) Thoma - January 9 (Capricorn) Diona - January 18 (Capricorn) Rosaria - January 24 (Aquarius)
2 February
Similar to January, February has not been particularly abundant with Genshin Impact’s character birthday celebrations. However, with Alhaitham recently joining the roster, the numbers have been evened out. One of the most notable and perhaps the most ironic birthdays in February is Bennett’s, as it falls on the 29th of February, only occurring once every four years. Nevertheless, Bennett still gets to celebrate it and players receive a letter from him annually. Another noteworthy birthday is Beidou’s, which happens on Valentine’s Day.
Alhaitham - February 11 (Aquarius) Beidou - February 14 (Aquarius) Sangonomiya Kokomi - February 22 (Aquarius) Bennett - February 29 (Pisces)
3 March
March is the busiest month for birthdays in Genshin Impact, especially in the first half of the month, with birthdays coming in rapid succession with just a few days between them. Two of the standard banner 5-star characters, Qiqi and Jean, will be celebrating their birthdays, along with one of the newest additions to the playable character roster, Yaoyao, who debuted in version 3.4.
Qiqi - March 3 (Pisces) Yaoyao - March 6 (Pisces) Shenhe - March 10 (Pisces) Jean - March 14 (Pisces) Noelle - March 21 (Pisces) Kamisato Ayato - March 26 (Aries)
4 April
In April, players have the opportunity to celebrate Aloy’s birthday, the only collaboration character from another world. Though players may not be accustomed to celebrating her birthday in Horizon Zero Dawn, it is nice to see that they will receive a letter from Aloy in Genshin Impact. Xiao’s birthday also falls in April, and it’s nice to see that he gets to celebrate it while sending heartfelt letters to the players.
Aloy - April 4 (Aries) Xiao - April 17 (Aries) Yelan - April 20 (Aries) Diluc - April 30 (Taurus)
5 May
May has been the quietest month since Genshin Impact’s release, with only Fischl being featured from the entire roster - who also mentioned her real name “Amy” in her letters. Fortunately, May isn’t just about Fischl anymore, thanks to the addition of Yunjin from Liyue, Gorou from Inazuma, and Collei and Candace from Sumeru. Now, May features the birthday’s of at least one character from each of the game’s four regions.
Candace - May 3 (Taurus) Collei - May 8 (Taurus) Gorou - May 18 (Taurus) Yunjin - May 21 (Taurus) Fischl - May 27 (Gemini)
6 June
June is an incredibly busy month in Teyvat, with many of its characters’ birthdays falling within it. On June 1st, Paimon, the non-playable but highly important companion of the Traveler, and Itto greet the summer. The 26th and 27th of June are particularly interesting, as Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko’s birthdays fall right after one another.

Adding to this coincidence, Yae sends Raiden’s birthday mail, making Raiden the only character not to send their own birthday mail, and Yae the only character to send somebody else’s birthday mail in addition to their own. Lastly, both Paimon and Raiden’s birthdays are the only ones that do not include a special dish.
Paimon - June 1 (Gemini) Arataki Itto - June 1 (Gemini) Lisa - June 9 (Gemini) Venti - June 16 (Gemini) Yoimiya - June 21 (Gemini) Cyno - June 23 (Cancer) Raiden Shogun - June 26 (Cancer) Yae Miko - June 27 (Cancer)
7 July
July is an especially festive summer month, as it is the only other month alongside July where two characters share the same birthday: Klee and Kuki Shinobu. To celebrate Klee’s birthday, the limited-time event zone Golden Apple Archipelago is also available for most of July. This makes July a truly special and remarkable month for character birthdays.
Barbara - July 5 (Cancer) Kujou Sara - July 14 (Cancer) Hu Tao - July 15 (Cancer) Tartaglia - July 20 (Cancer) Shikanoin Heizou - July 24 (Leo) Klee - July 27 (Leo) Kuki Shinobu - July 27 (Leo) Yanfei - July 28 (Leo)
8 August
After two busy summer months, August ends the season relatively quietly, with Mona celebrating the last day of summer on August 31. This month also marks the birthday of Amber, the first playable character Travelers meet in their journey in Teyvat. It is only fitting that a warm and friendly character like Amber would have her birthday in a summer month like August, making it all the more special.
Amber - August 10 (Leo) Faruzan - August 20 (Leo) Ningguang - August 26 (Virgo) Mona - August 31 (Virgo)
9 September
September is an extra special month, as it marks the release of Genshin Impact on September 28th. Not only does this month welcome the coming of autumn, but it also marks the birthdays of several characters, who all coincidentally have cool-toned hair colors and outfits such as Chongyun and Ayaka.
Chongyun - September 7 (Virgo) Razor - September 9 (Virgo) Albedo - September 13 (Virgo) Kamisato Ayaka - September 28 (Libra)
10 October
October is an eventful month for Genshin Impact characters, as it is the busiest autumn birthday month. The second half of October is particularly noteworthy, as a number of characters have birthdays that are spaced out only by a few days.

The most interesting birthday in this month is Nahida’s, as her Official Character Teaser Trailer “Happy Birthday Nahida” was released on her actual birthday, just before her initial release. Despite the fact that the trailer was quite a sad one, players were still able to celebrate Nahida’s special day, even though they didn’t receive mail from her for the first year after her release.
Xingqiu - October 9 (Libra) Xinyan - October 16 (Libra) Sayu - October 19 (Libra) Eula - October 25 (Scorpio) Nahida - October 27 (Scorpio) Kaedehara Kazuha - October 29 (Scorpio)
11 November
November used to be a busy birthday month, as four of the original characters had their birthdays in it. However, since Genshin Impact’s release, no new November birthdays have been added. However, with Genshin Impact constantly introducing new characters to the roster, it is likely that November will soon be filled with even more birthday celebrations in the not-too-distant future.
Xiangling - November 2 (Scorpio) Keqing - November 20 (Scorpio) Sucrose - November 26 (Sagitarrius) Kaeya - November 30 (Sagitarrius)
12 December
As the year draws to a close, the festivities in Genshin Impact are only just beginning. Ganyu welcomes the month on the 2nd of December, and Zhongli concludes the month and the year on the 31st. The month experienced a remarkable surge in birthday celebrations with the introduction of Sumeru, which added four new characters to the birthday list from this region.
Ganyu - December 2 (Sagitarrius) Nilou - December 3 (Sagitarrius) Layla - December 19 (Sagitarrius) Dori - December 21 (Sagitarrius) Tighnari - December 28 (Capricorn) Zhongli - December 31 (Capricorn)
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
