Admittedly, not much is known about Genshin Impact’s Al Haitham. He doesn’t have as many leaks as other characters, like Collei, Dori, or Tighnari. Even then, it’s worth laying down everything the community knows about him so far. Just note that none of this information is final and may change by the time Genshin Impact 3.0 updates come around.

Genshin Impact Al Haitham’s Character Details
Al Haitham will supposedly be a 5-Star Genshin Impact character who wields the Dendro element. Before people found out about his name, he was referred to as “Su.” Su is a playable character from Honkai Impact who shares similar characteristics to Al Haitham’s leaked model. Thus, it’s believed that Al Haitham is Su’s “expy” (exported character). This is similar to the connection between Yae Miko of Genshin Impact and Yae Sakura of Honkai Impact.
There are a few lore-based leaks surrounding Al Haitham’s character. For one, leakers report that there’s a chance he’ll have a minor appearance in Genshin Impact update 2.8. He’ll also be present early on in Sumeru, so players get to meet him as early as the 3.0 update. What his exact role will be is still unclear, but leaker Hxg_Diluc says he’s a prominent figure in the Sumeru region.
The same leaker has also said that Al Haitham and Zhongli know each other, but the nature of their relationship is unknown. Additionally, the upcoming Dendro character of Genshin Impact also doesn’t appear or act like a human being, which suggests that he could be some sort of godlike entity, similar to the adepti of Liyue.
The most recent leak by Hxg_Diluc sheds some light on Al Haitham and his personal beliefs. He is reportedly a very intelligent character who believes that the gods and humans of Teyvat should be equal. In the continuation of the story of Genshin Impact, Al Haitham will supposedly explain the connection between the divines and mortal entities to the Traveler.
Like Tighnari of Genshin Impact, Al Haitham’s name is also based off a real historical figure. In this case, it’s Ḥasan Ibn al-Haytham, an Arab polymath who specialized in mathematics, astronomy, physics, and other fields of study. This explains the Genshin Impact character’s intelligence and wisdom. Interestingly enough, the Arab scholar made significant contributions to concepts surrounding vision, so Al Haitham may also have much to say about the Visions of Genshin Impact.
Speculations on Genshin Impact Al Haitham’s Release Date
Unfortunately, there haven’t been any leaks surrounding Al Haitham’s kit, so most of the community is still in the dark on that matter. The same goes with his release date. However, some players have pointed out that he may follow Yae Miko’s pattern in the Inazuma arc.
Yae Miko was introduced very early on during the Inazuma storyline, specifically in Genshin Impact version 2.0. However, she was only released as a playable character much later, during the 2.5 update. Since she’s also an expy of a Honkai Impact character, players believe that Al Haitham may follow a similar timeline. He’ll be introduced as early as Genshin Impact update 3.0, then released during the 3.5 update.
If that’s the case, then Al Haitham fans are going to have to wait a long time before the Dendro genius becomes playable. Luckily, that gives them plenty of time to do their Genshin Impact dailies and save up their Primogems. However, fans should remember that this is only speculation, so it’s best to wait for HoYoverse’s announcement before deciding on what to do.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
