Reddit user Vivdarlin recently posted a photo of someone modeling their Genshin Impact t-shirt, which shows a different side of Xiao than players are familiar with in-game. Genshin Impact’s Xiao is an Anemo user in Genshin Impact that uses Polearms and is typically found in Wangshu Inn when fans aren’t playing as him after likely obtaining the hero from the “Invitation to Mundane Life” event. Xiao follows the Alatus Nemeseos constellation, and this shirt reflects the space influence from Genshin Impact. Furthermore, he’s often wearing a dark Oni mask that is also reflected in Vivdarlin’s design.

Vivdarlin’s shirt shows Genshin Impact’s Xiao in the center of a mostly purple frame above some Japanese writing that acts as a title to an iTunes song, with the play, fast-forward, and rewind symbols all represented at the bottom. Xiao is removing his Oni mask on Vivdarlin’s shirt to reveal his crying face that reflects the I am fine meme of a sobbing character with bloodshot eyes putting a smiling mask on their face. In Genshin Impact, Xiao is also known as the Bane of All Evil, and when he dons this mask, his suffering is emphasized in-game as his health is drained in exchange for enhanced combat abilities.
According to Vivdarlin, the Japanese characters spell out the voice lines said by Genshin Impact voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka when players use two of Xiao’s elemental skills before unleashing a burst “as a Xiao main would.” Vivdarlin has confirmed that Genshin Impact fans that like their Xiao-themed meme shirt can purchase it on their Spring page alongside other merch, and it costs just under $25. This Genshin Impact fan has also turned the Xiao design into a sweater and sticker so that players can represent Xiao in a number of ways.
One Genshin Impact fan responding to Vivdarlin’s Reddit post shared that the Japanese characters are “Kudaranai,” meaning worthless, “Mudada,” being useless, and “Kiero,” translating to disappear. Another Genshin Impact player speculated that Xiao is listening to a song given the design of Vivdarlin’s shirt while complimenting its creativity, suggesting it would be the Berserk anime soundtrack from 4 Gatsu. Vivdarlin has assured one Xiao critic that her main is well taken care of and is fed “plenty of almond tofu” beyond being celebrated through this custom Genshin Impact shirt.
Genshin Impact is available now for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development with no confirmed release date.
