Reddit user u/reverieMidnight revealed a teaser trailer for an animated short showcasing the history of the Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact. The trailer begins with Ei, the young girl that would eventually claim the Raiden Shogun mantle and lead Inazuma as its chief Archon god. Ei is depicted with her sister, Makoto, and her Inazuman friends from long ago. Players were shown a glimpse into Ei’s early life before becoming Raiden Shogun in the story quest line titled “Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter” in Genshin Impact. The new teaser trailer released one day after HoYoverse announced the official Genshin Impact anime adaptation.

Alongside the teaser trailer, u/reverieMidnight announced the name of the animated short: “Dreams in Eternal Reminiscence.” The animated short will premiere at HoYoFair 2022 and depict the Raiden Shogun’s past life as Ei and “the meaning of impermanence to an eternal being.” In collaboration with HoYoverse, Dreams in Eternal Reminiscence will expand on Ei’s early life while staying true to the source material found in Genshin Impact. Additionally, the animated short will likely provide insight into Ei adapting to the role of Raiden Shogun and her struggles as a god.
Dreams in Eternal Reminiscence debuts alongside many other fan creations at HoYoFair 2022’s Fan Art Special Program. HoYoverse aims to create lasting connections with its player base through fan art creators every year with HoYoFair. Additionally, the company is able to give back to its Genshin Impact community with special prizes such as an Alienware x14 Gaming Laptop, “Eclipsing Star” Ningguang figure, Dell Gaming Backpack 17, and much more. The event will broadcast live on the official Twitch Gaming channel, HoYoLab Twitter account, and HoYoLab YouTube channel on September 24.

Furthermore, HoYoFair allows HoYoverse to gauge fan interest in Genshin Impact and give back to its player base with fun events outside the open-world action RPG. These connections are key to growing a healthy Genshin Impact player base for years to come.
Version 3.1 will follow the HoYoverse formula of content updates with new areas, events, and characters at the end of September. HoYoFair 2022 arrives a few days before Genshin Impact version 3.1 launches to build up hype once more.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
