To get right to it, there are a total of six Mysterious Shadows that fans must interact with, and all of them can be found within the search area that surrounds the abandoned temple. More specifically, five of them are standing on the ground, and one of them is standing atop the temple’s roof. The exact locations of all six of these Mysterious Shadows can be seen on the map below, which should make completing this portion of the Sacrificial Offering quest in Genshin Impact very easy.

Genshin Impact: Mysterious Shadow Locations
In front of the temple. In front of a Kitsune statue. On the roof of the temple. Directly next to a tree. In front of a small shrine. Next to two small Kitsune statues.
After speaking with the last of these NPCs, three chests will appear slightly southeast of the Mysterious Shadow designated as “6” on the map above. Genshin Impact players should feel free to loot these contains, though doing so will not complete the “continue the investigation at the abandoned shrine” quest step. For that to occur, fans must examine a glowing book, and it is situated directly in the middle of the chests.
Once a player has interacted with this special book, they will be asked to investigate the Grand Narukami Shrine. This location is found just to the north of the abandoned shrine and Mysterious Shadows, and fans will need to do some climbing in Genshin Impact to get to it. When they do ultimately reach the Grand Narukami Shrine, players should speak with an NPC named Inagi Hotomi to obtain the Memento Lens.
They should then take this Lens back down to the abandoned shrine and use it to examine several of the Kitsune statues that are found there. After that, players will need to recite some sacred words and locate a specific barrier. This all culminates with fans destroying the barrier in Genshin Impact, and the Sacrificial Offering quest will finally be marked as complete when that is done.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
