Genshin Impact: Examine the Mechanism and Open the Great Door
Fans that are attempting to open the great door in Genshin Impact’s The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent quest should begin by locating the triangular mechanism that is marked by a waypoint. Indeed, this is the mechanism referenced by the quest objective, and fans must hit the apparatus with a standard attack in order to “examine” it. If this action does not lower the great door, which is just in front of the mechanism, players should simply move away from the device and try again.

Aftering striking the triangular mechanism and opening the great door, players should enter the ruins and talk to the NPC that is upstairs. At the conclusion of that conversation, fans will be sent to the library, where they will be instructed to investigate the rear of the library and solve the puzzle in Genshin Impact. This is another step in the Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent quest that may give fans some amount of trouble, and it requires that a series of triangular mechanisms be hit in a designated order.
This is not the last time that players may find themselves stuck during this World Quest, though, and its most-complicated section is just around the corner. Indeed, fans that continue progressing through The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent will eventually be told to gather the three fragments in Genshin Impact, and that task can prove to be somewhat difficult. That difficulty is due to the fact that fans must complete three subquests in order to gather the fragments, some of which contain tricky puzzles.
Case in point: there is a puzzle at the center of the Heart of Ouroboros quest, which fans must complete to obtain one of the Reins of Revival fragments. More specifically, that puzzle requires players to solve the riddle at the altar in the Serpent’s Heart in Genshin Impact, and the way that is done may not be immediately obvious. That said, players that put a bit of their attention toward the ground should be able to get past this part and continue toward the The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent’s conclusion.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
