This makes him a competitor for one of the best support characters in the game: Venti. He’s the Anemo Archon and one of the oldest gods in Teyvat. Now, his role is challenged by a newcomer mortal. How does he fare? How does Kazuha fare? Which will knock the wind out of the other (pun intended)? Here’s a comprehensive comparison.
Updated February 15th, 2022, by Sid Natividad: Times have changed in Genshin Impact. What were once the most powerful beings and meta components of any team are being surpassed. Such is the case for the Kazuha vs Venti conundrum. It seems that the Anemo Archon has finally been dethroned and Kazuha is now the more desirable Anemo support.
While that’s the community evaluation, Venti vs Kazuha shouldn’t really be that simple. After all, picking one over the other should always have some kind of objective basis. Hence, here’s more information about the two Anemo characters’ strengths so players can better assess which among the two fits their needs or is better overall.
14 Why Kazuha: More Versatile Abilities
While both characters have great synergy with just about anyone who relies on damage-focused Elemental Reactions, Kazuha was likely made with Melt and Vaporize teams in mind. He can Swirl two base elements at the same time using his abilities, leading to a higher enemy debuff when he’s using the Viridescent Venerer artifact set.
That ultimately means more damage output for the whole team. Coupled with an Elemental Skill that can group enemy clusters, that makes Kazuha more versatile than Venti. Venti, for all his crowd control and energy generation strengths, doesn’t exactly offer the same level of combat tricks.
13 Why Venti: He’s An Archon
Apart from the gameplay aspect, having an Archon in one’s character roster in Genshin Impact is simply incredible. Because the elephant in the room for the community is that five-star characters are trophies and the best among them are the Archons.

Playable Archon characters in Genshin Impact tend to be made as future-proof investments— characters who are always useful regardless of the setup. Because despite Kazuha being the more preferred Anemo support these days, Venti’s crowd control abilities are second to none. Also simply having him is good for bragging rights.
12 Why Kazuha: Better Against Big Enemies
Speaking of Venti’s crowd control Burst, it has a glaring weakness. It only works for human-sized enemies or smaller. Anything bigger than those Fatui chonks aren’t going to get sucked into the vortex. That means Venti is somewhat suboptimal in endgame environments like Floor 12 in the Spiral Abyss where there’s nothing but big bosses.
Against those enemies, Kazuha fares better since, as mentioned above, he can Swirl multiple elements, leading to higher damage output. This lets the team burst down the big enemies with their colorful team compositions. Against other bosses, Kazuha also functions better than Venti.
11 Why Venti: There’s No Alternative For Him
Players who didn’t get Kazuha needn’t worry as there’s always an alternative for him in the form of Sucrose. In fact, some pre-released speculation for Kazuha is that he’s a five-star Sucrose when it comes to function. Then there’s Venti who has no equal when it comes to his main function in a party, which is crowd control.

Some other five-star characters have their budget alternatives: Noelle can be substituted for Zhongli’s shield; Jean is unnecessary thanks to Sayu; Razor can stand in for Eula, etc. Venti is tough to replace, especially in environments like Floor 11 of the Spiral Abyss, adding much to his value as a trophy five-star character.
10 Why Kazuha: More Accessible Gameplay
Kazuha is a sword user in Genshin Impact, and as with all of them, he’s simple to pilot. His Elemental Skill groups enemies together for easier killing, while his Elemental Burst is the kill switch. When compared to Venti or even another Anemo support like Sucrose, using his abilities is a breeze. Players usually just press or tap the ability buttons buttons and then forget about them.
Meanwhile, Venti’s Elemental Burst requires more management in order to tactically hit every target. There’s also a certain intricacy to Venti’s suction mechanic. Leveling him up too high (70+) will elevate the enemies too much, rendering them evasive against melee attacks. Kazuha’s abilities don’t demand as much.
9 Why Venti: Better Crowd Control
Expecting Kazuha to surpass Venti’s crowd control abilities is just wishful thinking. It turns out, no one has yet to defeat the Anemo Archon when it comes to suspending enemies in midair. Venti’s Elemental Burst remains to this day, the best crowd control ability in the game.

Its energycost is so low, it might as well be free. It makes quick work of any small enemies and still manages to shred the resistances of big enemies. Damage-wise, it’s also decent enough for Venti to pass as a sub-DPS.
8 Why Kazuha: Excellent For Elemental Eeactions
While Venti has his own tricks for boosting up the team’s main damage dealers, Kazuha’s is more robust. He doesn’t rely on his constellations either to make the most out of elemental reactions for the team.
Kazuha gives too many elemental damage bonuses, and that scales well with his Elemental Mastery. Even Elemental Mastery itself boosts up the damage of Elemental Reactions. Playing into this aspect of Kazuha’s strength will ensure that any team with him will excel better than a team with other Anemo supports.
7 Why Venti: More Utility
With that said, Kazuha has nothing on Venti’s utility. This is why Venti is still the better overall support. Kazuha has a plunge attack similar to Xiao? Well, so does Venti. He can also give it to other characters via his Elemental Skill (hold variant). That same skill also allows players to explore easier with gliding.

For grouping enemies, as discussed earlier, Venti always wins against Kazuha. Outside of combat, Venti has more utility; players can even use his Elemental Burst to concentrate loot in one spot if they’re feeling lazy.
6 Why Kazuha: Easier To Play As DPS Carry
Then again, Kazuha already wins in many players’ hearts thanks to the fact that he’s more balanced than Venti. Whereas Venti’s damage is too low to make him a fully-fledged DPS, Kazuha can hold his own well when it comes to that category.
All Kazuha needs is some strong elemental backup for his Elemental Burst, and he can easily become the team’s main damage dealer. The hold variant of his Elemental Skill also does plenty of damage. Couple that with his Elemental Burst, and he can erase enemies with ease, whereas Venti might need a dedicated carry in order to finish the job.
5 Why Venti: Astonishing Energy Generation
Kazuha, thanks to his low cooldowns and cheap-costing abilities, doesn’t have any energy problems. Venti enjoys the same luxury for his abilities, except he goes above and beyond to ensure that he will be able to cast them as soon as they’re available.

One of Venti’s passive talents makes him the most reliable energy battery in the game. He can top up his Elemental Burst in one usage of his Elemental Skill, and still have some spare particles for the rest of the party. That’s why he’s the most desirable battery support for characters like Xiao.
4 Why Kazuha: More Beneficial Constellations
One thing to consider in Genshin Impact before one commits to obtaining multiple copies of a featured 5-star character is whether the constellations are worth it. For Venti, the sad part is that his constellations are pretty lackluster or disappointing.
Venti’s first constellation is more or less useless, and two or three others leave much to be desired. The C6 is great, but few others are. Meanwhile, Kazuha’s constellations are all justifiably good. Most of them turn Kazuha into a fully-fledged Anemo DPS, adding even more to his playstyle.
3 Why Venti: Ranged Attacks
For their choice of weaponry, Venti edges out Kazuha a little thanks to his choice of weapon, a bow. Melee characters tend to be at a disadvantage in Genshin Impact (that’s partly why Ganyu is the best DPS in the game). Even someone as powerful as Kazuha will have trouble fighting a Ruin Hunter or some pesky Hilichurl mages/archers on their pillars or towers.

Venti, meanwhile, can dish out some quick physical bow attacks or charged attacks to at least knock those pesky ranged Hilichurls off their pedestal. He can also activate Anemo structures more easily. Hunting birds, for that matter, is a breeze with Venti.
2 Why Kazuha: Can Deal With Large Enemies More Easily
Venti’s Elemental Burst would have been perfect if not for one shortcoming: it’s not too effective against large enemies. Against Mitachurls or anything bigger, players will have to bust out their dedicated DPS.
Kazuha doesn’t have this problem. His Elemental Burst, when infused with another element, can deal with large threats quite easily. Kazuha can also deal with Abyss Mages well enough since his Elemental Burst deals continuous damage at fairly fast intervals.
1 Why Venti: Better For Exploration
In Genshin Impact, a support character that makes off-combat activities easier is quite golden. Venti ticks off many boxes here. As mentioned before, his Elemental Skill has boundless uses. Additionally, one of Venti’s passive talents reduces the Stamina consumption for gliding.
Gliding is the best way to traverse the environment in the game, especially when trying to reach faraway islands. Kazuha does have his own functional passive talent for exploration, but it’s for Stamina consumption while sprinting, which is hardly the best way to go fast in the game.
Genshin Impact is available on PS5, PS4, PC, Android, and iOS. Genshin Impact has been also announced for the Nintendo Switch but a release date has yet to be confirmed.
