Alhaitham has made multiple appearances in the ongoing Sumeru arc where he is portrayed as a mysterious character who works for the Sumeru Akademiya. He is confirmed to be a new Dendro user, making him the fifth playable Genshin Impact character to use this element.

A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit shows Alhaitham’s whole kit description. According to the leak, his Elemental Skill will have a top and a hold variation, just like Nahida’s All Schemes to Know. Tapping his skill button will make Alhaitham dash forward, dealing Dendro damage to nearby enemies and form a Chisel-Light Mirror, while holding it will allow the player to adjust the direction of the dash. Alhaitham’s whole kit seems to revolve around the Chisel-Light Mirrors which have a couple of interesting effects. Having at least one of the mirrors on the field will convert Alhaitham’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks into Dendro damage. The mirrors will also deal AoE Dendro damage against the enemy Alhaitham is attacking at the moment.
All these effects will scale with the number of Chisel-Light Mirrors on the field, but it should be noted that only three of them can coexist on the field. Alhaihtam’s Elemental Burst will deal multiple instances of AoE Dendro damage, similar to Keqing’s Starward Sword. Having Chisel-Light Mirrors present on the field will significantly increase the burst’s damage potential. These leaks confirm previous rumors that Alhaitham could be a new Genshin Impact DPS character.
The only true Dendro DPS in the game at the moment is Tighnari who arrived in Genshin Impact update 3.0. However, players expect Alhaihtam to have the ability to produce much higher damage numbers than Tighnari who is now part of the Standard Banner. There is still no official information about Alhaitham’s release date, but going by HoYoverse’s recent pattern when it comes to roster additions, he should arrive on the first banner in version 3.4.
He will not be the only new playable character in 3.4 as another four-star Dendro user named Yaoyao is also confirmed to join the game in the next update. There is a chance that two characters arrive on the same banner which would allow players to pull for both of them at the same time.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
