The live stream event for Genshin Impact update 3.4 has officially announced the Lantern Rite festival which is an annual event in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Every region in the game is based on a real-life location and Liyue is inspired by Chinese culture which is the main reason why the festival is always hosted in this location.

A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit apparently reveals the human form of the Adepti known as Cloud Retainer who usually takes the form of a white crane. The Adepti are a group of powerful illuminated beasts and gods who serve as Liyue’s main protectors, and they are led by the Prime of Adepti, the Geo Archon Morax. The image matches Cloud Retainer’s previously leaked description claiming that she will have a tall female figure with glasses. Credible leakers have also revealed that Cloud Retainer’s human form could appear in one of the Lantern Rite cutscenes.

Cloud Retainer is one of Morax’s oldest allies, and they were fighting together during the infamous Archon War. Many fans in the comment section are hoping that HoYoverse decides to make her part of the playable roster. This would not come as a surprise considering that there are already two playable Adepti in the game, the Geo Archon Zhongli and the Cryo bow user Ganyu.

Some fans have pointed out that Cloud Retainer’s model did not appear in the recent Genshin Impact leaks that revealed 10 upcoming playable characters which could indicate that she will remain an NPC. Most of these characters will apparently be tied to a new major region named Fontaine which means that players will have to wait for update 4.0 for more information about their kit.

Fontaine is expected to be the 5th main region to arrive to Genshin Impact, and it will be located west of Liyue and north of Sumeru’s deserts. Some credible leakers like hxg_diluc have stated that some of the leaked characters are actually from Mondstadt. This means that the game’s first region could receive a much-needed expansion in the upcoming months.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
