Weapons have a significant impact on every character build in Genshin Impact, and they can have different levels of rarity, with five-star items being usually the most powerful ones. These weapons can be acquired by pulling on one of the two limited banners this gacha-based game has to offer.

A new post on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit shows more details about one of the new swords that will apparently be a part of the upcoming update. The sword is called Light of Foliar Sanction, and it will serve as the signature weapon for the next five-star character Alhaihtam, who played an important role in the Sumeru arc. According to the leak, the new weapon will have the following stats:

Weapon type: Sword Rarity: Five-star weapon Base Attack: 542 Secondary stat: Crit Damage Secondary stat max. value: 88. 2% Passive: Increases the character’s Crit Rate by 8-16%, based on the refinement level. When Normal Attacks deal elemental damage, the weapon holder will receive an effect called Folian Sanction, which increases Normal Attack and Elemental Skill damage by 120-200% of the character’s Elemental Mastery. This effect will end after 16-20 damage instances or after 12 seconds.

A lot of comments claim that this could easily become an S-tier Genshin Impact weapon that can be used by almost any DPS character in the Genshin Impact. However, in order to use this weapon to its full potential, players need to ensure that their character’s Normal Attacks are infused with elemental damage so that they can benefit from its passive effect.

Even though it will serve as Alhaitham’s signature weapon, fans claim they will be happy to equip it on their existing DPS sword units like Ayato or even Genshin Impact’s support characters like Kazuha. Even though the leak does not reveal the weapon’s release date, it’s safe to assume it will appear on the same banner as the new five-star Dendro character.

Some players have complained that Alhaitham’s kit seems oddly similar to another sword user named Keqing, the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing. According to several fans, Alhaitham’s Elemental Burst seems like the Dendro version of Keqing’s Starward Sword. Also, both of their Elemental Skills allow them to dash and deal elemental damage in the process.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
