RELATED: Genshin Impact: Best 5-star Character Constellations

Players looking to level up their characters will soon find out that some of the most important aspects of the game are frequent boss battles. These encounters yield rewards required to ascend each character to a higher level range. Depending on their elemental specialization and other factors, each GenshinImpactcharacter needs different ascension materials that get dropped by bosses. This is why it is crucial for players to frequently engage with all of the bosses present in the game, and have a party setup that will make the fight as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Updated December 11, 2021 by Nahda Nabiilah: With several new characters in the game, Genshin Impact continuously releases new bosses for players to farm. This open-world enemy will drop the items for characters to Ascend and get stronger. Initially, Genshin Impact started with six Normal Bosses to fight. As of Version 2.3, the number went up to 14 different bosses. Each of these enemies is unique, with different weaknesses and characters to counter it. Of course, when fighting a boss, there is an endless amount of possible compositions. However, some parties are more effective than others when it comes to each boss.

14 Golden Wolflord

Enemy’s Weakness: Geo attack Main DPS: Ningguang or Ganyu Support: Xingqiu Healer: Barbara

The key to defeating Golden Wolflord is having a Geo unit to defeat its Rifthound Skulls, which will remove the boss’s shield. Any Element can do this job, but Geo is the most effective.

For DPS, Travelers need units that can do ranged attacks. Golden Wolflord will constantly fly out of melee reach, so a bow user like Ganyu or catalyst unit like Ningguang is the best option. Other than that, players will also want a dedicated healer to deal with the Corrosion debuff. Barbara is amazing for this job.

13 Thunder Manifestation

Main DPS: Ganyu Support: Zhongli Healer: Diona

Just like the Golden Wolflord, this Electro boss is also very jumpy. So for main DPS, players should opt for either bow or catalyst character.

This boss constantly deals large Electro damage when it’s enraged, so a shielder like Zhongli will go a long way. Meanwhile, for healers, players should avoid characters that apply elements. For example, Barbara will cause Travelers to be Electro-Charged, while Bennett’s Pyro self-application may cause constant Overload. Diona, on the other hand, is the safest healer for this boss.

12 Perpetual Mechanical Array

Main DPS: Hu Tao Support: Xingqiu, Xiangling Healer: Any

For Perpetual Mechanical Array, the best strategy is brute force. After lowering the boss’s HP, it will enter an invulnerable phase during which four different Automatons will spawn. One of them will have a golden ring on them. This enemy is the one Travelers need to defeat.

After destroying the marked Automaton, Perpetual Mechanical Array will enter a stunned phase. It’s the most vulnerable at this time, so players should hit it with everything they have.

11 Maguu Kenki

Main DPS: Hu Tao Support: Xingqiu, Zhongli Healer: Any

Maguu Kenki is one of the most annoying bosses as it’s filled with unclear i-frame. This means that when casting some of his skills, this boss will be invulnerable. The first step to defeating the machine is knowing when its i-frame is.

This boss has the tendency to parry when being hit with ranged attacks, meaning that melee units will work better against it. A combination of Hu Tao and Xingqiu can easily pierce through the boss’s HP while maintaining a close distance.

10 Cryo Hypostasis

Enemy’s Weakness: Charged attack Main DPS: Hu Tao Support: Xiangling Healer: Diona

When it comes to this boss, Hu Tao can easily deal Melt damage when attacking Cryo Hypostasis’ core. This also makes Xiangling an excellent sub-DPS against. As for Diona, her Cryo shield is super effective against Cryo attacks. The Kätzlein will also double as a healer whenever necessary.

After entering the Glacial Shield phase, the enemy will continuously throw Frostfruits all over the field. Players have to roll these fruits to the boss by using Charged attack.

9 Hydro Hypostasis

Enemy’s Weakness: Cryo attack Main DPS: Hu Tao Support: Ayaka, Xiangling Healer: Any

Living up to the Hydro image, this boss also has little healers to aid it in battle. These minions take a form of Slimes, and will constantly spawn in battle. Failure to handle them will cause the boss to continuously heal. Players can destroy the Slimes with various Elemental Reactions, but Frozen is the most effective. A character like Ayaka is the best for this job.

Meanwhile, Hu Tao and Xiangling can easily destroy the enemy with non-stop Reverse-Vaporize.

8 Pyro Hypostasis

Enemy’s Weakness: Hydro attack Main DPS: Ganyu Support: Zhongli or Thoma Healer: Barbara

Unlike the typical hypostasis, the Pyro version has a Pyro shield that needs to be broken before it will reveal its core. For this job, players should utilize Hydro catalyst characters like Barbara, Mona, or Kokomi. Pyro Hypostasis will also constantly spawn Fire Seeds that need to be destroyed with one Hydro attack.

A shielder like Zhongli or Thoma will be a tremendous help when shredding the boss’s shield. Other than that, defeating the boss is the same drill as normal hypostasis.

7 Pyro Regisvine

Enemy’s Weakness: Hydro attack Main DPS: Tartaglia (Childe) Support: Sucrose, Bennett Healer: Diona

This fiery plant is a formidable boss, mainly due to its ability to fire targeted missiles at the players right from the start of the battle. The most effective element combination to use with Pyro Regisvine is Hydro+Cryo, but certain characters can significantly boost your chances of winning quickly, regardless of their element. This is why Bennett, despite being a Pyro character, is a vital member of the party for this boss. His elemental burst grants all party members an ATK bonus (provided that their health is at above 70%), making Tartaglia’s ranged Hydro attacks all the more devastating.

The remainder of the party should consist of Diona, due to her healing abilities and Cryo allegiance, as well as Sucrose (because, well, Anemo is useful against pretty much every element).

6 Cryo Regisvine

Enemy’s Weakness: Pyro attack Main DPS: Diluc Support: Bennet, Sucrose Healer: Diona

The Cryo Regisvine is usually the first boss many Genshin Impact players come across. It is located near Mondstadt, south of the Thousand Winds Temple. There are many ways to go about fighting it, but the most effective one (by far) is using a Pyro+Anemo combination of characters to bring it down.

Players should use Diluc as their primary way of dealing damage and incorporate Bennett’s Fantastic Voyage elemental burst to deal heavy fire damage and create an Inspiration Field around the player, ensuring their health level steadily remains above 70%. Combining that with Sucrose’s Forbidden Creation Anemo burst and Diluc’s frenzy of normal attacks makes for a surefire way to defeat the Cryo Regisvine. Despite the fact that she is a Cryo character and won’t deal too much damage, Diona should complete the party for this boss as additional quick healing support.

5 Oceanid

Main DPS: Keqing Support: Fischl, Bennett Healer: Qiqi

The Oceanid is a Genshin Impact foe that is fundamentally different from all of the other bosses in the game. Instead of outright attacking the players, this freaky creature relies on summoning water creatures to deal with the threat. The Oceanid itself will stay away from combat, and its HP will drop as the player defeats the ever-increasing hordes of Hydro creatures.

An Electro+Cryo party is recommended here, although you might want to incorporate Bennett in your setup as well, just because of his ability to multiply the ATK abilities of other characters. Fischl, on the other hand, is an absolutely essential member of this setup, as, without a ranged character, you might have a very difficult time killing the water birds summoned by the Oceanid in the latter parts of the fight. You might opt for someone else with a bow, but Fischl is highly recommended due to her Electro powers.

Finally, Qiqi should be used as this party’s primary healer, because her normal and charged attacks restore HP to all party members, allowing her to deal damage and heal herself and allies at the same time.

4 Geo Hypostasis

Enemy’s Weakness: Heavy attack (Claymore, Geo, explosion) Main DPS: Diluc Support: Xinyan, Jean Healer: Noelle

The hypostases are some of the most annoying bosses in Genshin Impact, mainly because of the extremely narrow windows of opportunity during which they’re susceptible to damage.

When it comes to fighting the Geo Hypostasis, the primary element that should be used to defeat this boss is Pyro. Diluc is the recommended first-choice fighter due to his quick consecutive striking and Dawn, the devastating elemental burst. To make full use of the limited amount of time during which the Geo Hypostasis could be hurt, you should incorporate Jean into the party – the Pyro+Anemo Swirl is incredibly effective, and Jean’s Dandelion Breeze skill will help maintain the HP levels.

Noelle should also be in the party. Since she’s a Geo character, she won’t be of much use during combat, but she does have a passive ability to heal the active character when their HP level drops below 30%.

3 Electro Hypostasis

Enemy’s Weakness: Pyro attack Main DPS: Ganyu Support: Xingqiu, Bennett Healer: Qiqi

Fighting the various elemental hypostases in Genshin Impact can get repetitive sometimes. While the combat itself seems eerily similar across all of these bosses, it is crucial not to forget to change your party setup in-between fights. Utilizing the correct elements is key to defeating any hypostasis without too much hassle.

The benefit of Ganyu as the main active character in this party is the ability to carry out powerful Cryo ranged attacks, which will surely help avoid losing too much HP early on. With most of the damage dealt by Ganyu, switching to Xinqiu to deal rapid Hydro sword strikes should help players make the most out of the Superconduct and Electro-charged elemental reactions. Bennett and Qiqi are valuable party members against any boss, and so they should take up the remaining two spots in the party.

2 Anemo Hypostasis

Main DPS: Keqing Support: Xinqiu, Bennett Healer: Qiqi

Many Genshin Impact players find the Anemo Hypostasis incredibly tricky since there doesn’t seem to be a single element that is clearly the most effective against Anemo. Therefore, forming a party to effectively deal with this boss is not as straightforward as it may seem at first glance.

This is why players should start building this squad with reliable backup and healer characters. Having Bennett in the party will lead to an incremental increase in the damage dealt by other members, and Qiqi’s elemental skills can wreak some serious havoc while passively healing all party members at the same time. Keqing should deal most of the damage. Her Starward Sword elemental burst is capable of draining significant amounts of any enemy’s health in a brief period of time and her normal attack is quite strong, even with a 3-star weapon.

1 Primo Geovishap

Enemy’s Weakness: Shield Main DPS: Depends on the Primo Geovishap’s element Support: Noelle, Bennett Healer: Qiqi

The Primo Geovishap was recently added to Genshin Impact’s line-up of bosses and is probably the most interesting one out of the bunch. This is because it can take up any elemental form (Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, and Electro). His glowing color is the indicator of what element the monster has currently chosen.

Due to its ever-changing nature, setting up the party for the Primo Geovishap will never be straightforward. There are, however, some characters that might prove useful regardless of what form the boss takes up. Noelle, with her Geo Breastplate ability, can help absorb a lot of the damage dealt by the Primo Geovishap, as well as carry out some pretty devastating attacks herself. Bennett will increase the overall damage of all party members and Qiqi will make sure the HP levels do not drop too much. As for the main attacking character, players should incorporate them into their parties as soon as they know what element the Primo Geovishap will manifest itself in.
