RELATED: Genshin Impact: Best Zhongli Build
This difficulty includes both their suitable weapon and their Artifact demand, where a character that eases both tasks can be considered a F2P-friendly character. Fans who would like to know the most F2P-friendly characters in Genshin Impactcan check out this article for the shortlist.
Updated November 9th, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: With the ever-growing list of playable Genshin Impact characters, it can be tough to keep up, especially for F2P players with a limited Resin budget. Non-spending characters have to properly manage their Resin usage so that they can ascend their character and upgrade their level, talent, and weapon. Then, they’ll have to get stuck in a loop of Artifact hell. Poor management of this commodity will end up with the characters being behind and neglected when a newer unit is released. Luckily, if Travelers are struggling with this issue, they can always try to opt for F2P-friendly units instead.
11 Yelan
Yelan is both powerful and only requires a small investment to utilize. Her moveset scales with HP, which means players can easily gain her Artifacts without much struggle. As for her weapons, she performs amazing even with free options like Favonius Warbow, Fading Twilight, and even the 3-Star Genshin Impact weapon, Recurve Bow.
Additionally, while upgrading all of Yelan’s talent is not a bad idea, her main strength exists on her Elemental Burst, so budget players can neglect her Skill and Normal Attack without losing too much of Yelan’s DPS.
10 Arataki Itto
Arataki Itto may not be as “budget” as Yelan when it comes to his talents, but his Artifacts and weapons are both F2P friendly. When it comes to talent investment, he ideally should have both his Elemental Burst and Normal Attack upgraded, with his Skill being optional.
For his weapon, Arataki Itto is F2P friendly because other than his best-in-slot, Redhorn Stonethresher, players can use Genshin Impact forgeable weapon, Whiteblind. This 4-Star Claymore can perform better than some 5-Star options thanks to the Oni’s DEF scaling.
9 Xingqiu
Xingqiu is not the easiest to build, but his tremendous value easily puts him on this list. As a 4-Star unit, Travelers can easily maximize his Constellation, and anyone who has reached the endgame would at least have a C0 Xingqiu.

For his build, Xingqiu can either use 4pc Noblesse Oblige to act as a buffer or 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate for a full Sub-DPS role. Finally, the Guhua Disciple’s best-in-slot weapon is the 4-Star Sacrificial Sword. Although this equipment is not exactly F2P, it’s still a 4-Star Sword.
8 Gorou
Gorou is a highly niche support that only works with a few Genshin Impact characters. So in terms of usefulness, he falls behind. But, when it comes to being F2P friendly, there are several reasons why Gorou is great.
First, he practically requires no Artifact. Gorou grants DEF buff to his team, but this only scales with his talent level, not his own DEF. Travelers don’t have to build him for damage or healing either. Second, since he scales with DEF, the only bow that he’d need are ones that grant Energy Recharge sub-stat. Finally, his DEF buff scales with the level of his Elemental Skill, which means both his Burst and Normal Attack talents can be ignored completely.
7 Albedo
Among the available F2P-friendly characters, Albedo is easily one of the most qualified. The Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius is an amazing Sub-DPS whose Skill scales with DEF. Considering the abundance of DEF Artifacts during Artifact farming, building Albedo will be a piece of cake. His current best-in-slot Artifact is Husk of Opulent Dreams, but he can work great even with random sets.
As for his weapons, players can use the free Sword, Cinnabar Spindle. For those who missed the event, they can let Albedo wield the 3-Star Genshin Impact weapon, Harbinger of Dawn instead.
6 Sangonomiya Kokomi
Another contender for the title of the most F2P-friendly character is the Priestess of Watatsumi Island, Sangonomiya Kokomi. Getting Ocean-Hued Clam pieces can be quite difficult, but as a healer, players can simply throw any HP Artifact on her. Even without utilizing her damage-dealing abilities, Kokomi can effortlessly be a top-tier healer.

If players insist on getting Ocean-Hued Clam, the Priestess can still be considered F2P-friendly. This is because Travelers won’t need to get Critical Rate stats, making her stat ceiling rather low. Kokomi’s suitable Catalysts are also easy to get. F2P players can either use Prototype Amber or Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers for her.
5 Barbara
The Favonius Church’s Sister is far more F2P-friendly than Kokomi. Similar to Sangonomiya Kokomi, players can equip Barbara with random HP Artifacts, but the Nun won’t even need any specific set as her best-in-slot. Players can either use random sets, 4-Maiden Beloved, or 2-Maiden Beloved + 2-Ocean-Hued Clam.
As well as being a 4-Star character, Barbara is best used without considering any damage-dealing abilities, so Travelers won’t have to worry about wasting her potential. Moreover, unlike Sangonomiya Kokomi whose best Catalyst is a 5-Star weapon, Everlasting Moonglow, Barbara is best wielding the 3-Star Catalyst, Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers.
4 Bennett
Bennett is also one of the most F2P-friendly characters in Genshin Impact. Players only have to stack HP and Energy Recharge on the Adventurer, then leave the rest to him. For his weapon, any Sword with Energy Recharge sub-stat should do the trick.

This unit is at his best at C1, so players don’t have to worry about needing several copies of Bennett. This ease of building, combined with his universal utility easily makes Bennett one of the most F2P-friend characters in Genshin Impact.
3 Zhongli
The Geo Archon, Morax, is designed as a shielder in Genshin Impact. His protection scales with HP, another commonly obtained stat during Artifact farming. His best set is the 4-Tenacity of the Millelith, but Zhongli works excellently even without any set.
As for his Genshin Impact Polearm, players can use a 3-Star weapon, Black Tassel. Black Tassel grants HP% as its sub-stat, further enhancing the strength of Zhongli’s shield. Travelers who think that Zhongli already has enough HP can use the Geo Archon as a Sub-DPS as well. Zhongli’s Elemental Burst can deal decent damage while also petrifying the enemy.
2 Raiden Shogun
Another Archon who is among the best characters for F2P players is the leader of the Land of Thunder, Inazuma. Raiden Shogun’s best F2P weapon was released along with her debut. This Polearm, The Catch, can be refined to maximum refinement simply by fishing throughout Teyvat.
Currently, Raiden Shogun is one of the best Batteries in Genshin Impact, making her suitable for practically any team composition. One downside for the Electro Archon is that her best-in-slot set, Emblem of Severed Fate, can be quite a pain to collect. Luckily though, similar to Noblesse Oblige, Emblem of Severed Fate is one of the best Artifacts in the game, so farming it constantly isn’t a bad idea.
1 Venti
Unsurprisingly, Venti is one of the most F2P-friendly characters in Genshin Impact. As the best feature in his kit is his crowd control, players can focus solely on his Elemental Burst. The Anemo Archon doesn’t need any Artifact set, Artifact main stat, or weapon to do his job of controlling crowds. Those who wish to maximize Venti’s potential can also choose between an Elemental Mastery build or a traditional Atk/Anemo/Crit build. These options allow players to adjust their Venti’s build according to the Artifact that they own.
Furthermore, although it may be bad news for some, F2P players will be happy to learn that Venti’s Constellations aren’t actually that good. So, unlike some other characters who enter a new level with Constellations, like Hu Tao’s C1, or Raiden Shogun’s C2, F2P players can stay content with C0 Venti.
Genshin Impact is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
